Zero-human support starts here.
A personal budgeting and cash-flow planner. You set up spending categories with monthly amounts, log transactions across accounts and currencies, and it tells you whether the month's plan holds. It is not a bank, not an investment platform, and not a financial advisor.
No. MagickMoney is a record-keeping and planning tool. Projections and cash-flow figures are arithmetic based on data you entered. Consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.
Budgeted is the setup plan for the month, including any rollover from last month. Actual is your current working plan — update it as reality changes during the month. Paid is what has actually happened. Cash Flow tracks Actual: if it goes negative, trim Actual somewhere to balance.
$10/month, billed via Stripe. New accounts get a 14-day free trial (card required, not charged until the trial ends). If a payment fails you have a 14-day grace period to update your card. And there's a 30-day money-back guarantee — if it's not for you, full refund, no questions asked. Manage your card, invoices, and cancellation from the Billing link in the sidebar (Stripe's hosted customer portal — we never see your card number).
Click "Forgot password?" on the login page. If your account has an email on file, you'll get a reset link valid for one hour (single use). Sessions also expire after 30 minutes of inactivity.
Yes — click "Export My Data" in the sidebar for a ZIP of all your financial data (per-table CSVs plus a manifest). Your data is yours. If you cancel, you have 30 days to export before deletion.
Yes! Click Refer & Earn in the sidebar for your personal referral link. Friends who sign up with it get their first month free (30 extra trial days on top of the 14-day trial), and you earn a $10 account credit — one free month — for each friend who becomes a paying customer. Credits apply automatically to your next invoice. There's no limit.
Only you (and anyone you share your login with). Each customer's data lives in its own isolated database. Our administrators can access the underlying databases for maintenance only. We never sell data, and there are no third-party trackers or analytics in the app.
Any currency in the currency table, plus MKM (MagickMoney's unit of account — the average across your currencies). Exchange rates can be fixed or floating per your preference.
Create a new cycle (sidebar → New Cycle). Rollover carries unspent amounts forward: it increases Budgeted for the new month but leaves Actual alone, so you can see the divergence the rollover created.
A savings target with a deadline (e.g. "$2,000 for a trip by December"). Log contributions as transactions categorized to the goal; the progress bar tracks you.
First, check the relevant FAQ answer above — most "bugs" are the Budgeted/Actual/Paid distinction. If it's genuinely broken, contact support with what you clicked, what you expected, and what happened (a screenshot helps).
Sidebar → Billing → cancel in the Stripe portal. Your data stays available for 30 days for export, then it's deleted per our retention policy (audit records we're legally obliged to keep are the exception).
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored or logged in plaintext. Login is rate-limited against brute force, and password-reset links expire after one hour and can only be used once.
